Intake Download is an account administrator setting at Settings > Intake Download in your Kno2 Connected™ app. The default configuration works for most organizations. Only change these settings if one of the specific scenarios below applies to your organization.
Forwarding received messages to an EMR Direct address
Forwarding received messages to an EMR Direct address
When to use: Your EMR supports Direct messaging but does not have a native integration. This setting automatically forwards received faxes and Direct messages to one or more EMR Direct addresses.
Navigate to Settings > Intake Download and select the Forward to EMR radio button.
EMR System Address Options
Enter one or more EMR Direct addresses to which messages and attachments should be forwarded.
From the drop-down list, select the Direct address from which you wish to forward messages to your EMR.
Forwarding Options
Select the file format for forwarded messages:
XDS-SD/CDA — For EMRs certified for Meaningful Use Stage 1 or higher that can automatically import documents in this format. Confirm XDS-SD/CDA support with your EMR vendor.
PDF — Attachments will be forwarded in PDF format.
Click Save Changes when satisfied with your selections.
Patient folder setup for a specific integration (e.g., ICANotes, Aprima)
Patient folder setup for a specific integration (e.g., ICANotes, Aprima)
When to use: You are using an integration — such as ICANotes or Aprima — that requires a patient folder structure as part of setup. Check your integration documentation for the exact directory path and format required.
Navigate to Settings > Intake Download, select Save or Print, then choose Standard Download.
File Location Options
Select Patient Folder and enter the directory path where patient folders should be created (for example, c:\kno2\ or your integration’s required path). Ensure all users in your Kno2 Connected™ app have read and write access to this location.
Select Enable Visit Directory if your integration requires a subdirectory for each visit or date of service.
File Format Options
Select Convert to PDF for most integrations (including ICANotes and Aprima), unless your integration documentation specifies otherwise.
Click Save Changes when satisfied with your selections.
Download Direct messages in original file format or as a combined download
Download Direct messages in original file format or as a combined download
When to use: You receive Direct messages with XML or other native file types that must be preserved in their original format rather than converted to PDF, or you want to download all attachments from a single message together in one download.
Navigate to Settings > Intake Download, select Save or Print, then choose Standard Download.
File Format Options
Select Keep Original to download files in the format they were received (for example, XML for Direct messages). Select Convert to PDF to convert all files to PDF on download.
The Standard Download option bundles all attachments from a message in a standardized folder structure. To configure where files are saved, see the patient folder section above for File Location Options.
Click Save Changes when satisfied with your selections.

When to use: Your organization uses paper-based charts and you want to prevent users from electronically saving or downloading documents. With this setting, printing is the only action available to users in My Intake.
Navigate to Settings > Intake Download, select the Print Only radio button, and click Save Changes.
Optional: Check Enable Printing From Browser to allow users to print to any printer including PDF printers. Without this option, users can only print via Desktop.
