Enabling Microsoft Print to PDF
Print to Desktop requires the Microsoft Print to PDF driver to be enabled on Windows. A system administrator can enable it using either method below.
Option 1: Windows Settings (GUI)
Open the Start Menu.
Search for "features" and select Turn Windows features on or off.
Check Microsoft Print to PDF.
Click OK.
Option 2: PowerShell or Command Prompt (Admin)
Open PowerShell or Command Prompt as an administrator and run:
dism /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:"Printing-PrintToPDFServices-Features" /NoRestart
Changes take effect immediately. No restart is required.
Installing Desktop
Desktop installs into a user-specific directory and creates a default folder called Kno2Release in your Documents.
Standard Installation (.exe)
Log in to your Kno2 Connected™ app.
Navigate to the Support Center (the ? icon) and expand Downloads.
Select Desktop and run the downloaded .exe file.
Once installation is complete, you will be prompted to log in using your Kno2 Connected™ credentials.
A window will appear asking you to select your Quick Release folder - this is where Desktop will monitor for outgoing documents. The default is Kno2Release in your Documents folder. You can browse to select a different empty folder if preferred.
Enterprise Installation (.msi)
An .msi installer is available for organizations that manage software deployment centrally (for example, via Group Policy or SCCM). To request the .msi package, ask to speak with a member of the Kno2 Healthcare Network Services (HCNS) team.
The following installer flags are supported for silent deployment:
setup.exe /silent- Runs the installer without user interaction, but the installer window will still be visible.setup.exe /verysilent- Runs the installer completely in the background with no visible window.
After Installation
Once installed, a Desktop icon will appear in your Windows system tray:
Right-click the icon at any time to:
View the current version, logged-in user, and organization
Access Desktop menu options
Install a pending update (this option only appears when an update is available)
Updating Desktop
Standard (.exe) Updates
If you installed Desktop using the .exe, updates are automatic. When you sign into the app and an update is available, Desktop will notify you with a popup:
Update Now - Accepts the update and restarts the application. You may be prompted to log in again after the update.
Later - Lets you keep working without interruption. To apply the update later, select Install Update or Exit Kno2 Desktop from the system tray menu.
Enterprise (.msi) Updates
If your organization deployed Desktop via .msi, updates are managed through your company's standard software deployment schedule. Contact your IT administrator for update timelines.
