When sending a new Release from Kno2, you have the option to select the format in which the attachments will be sent. When releasing faxes, however, all documents will be automatically converted to PDF and you will not need to make a selection.
Three options are available:
Original: Maintain the original file formats of each attachment.
PDF: Converts all of the attachments to PDF.
Unstructured CDA: Converts all unstructured files (such as a PDF, image, WORD document) to an unstructured CDA. If the file is a Kno2 supported structured file, the document is not converted to an Unstructured CDA.
It is important to know the capabilities of the provider or organization receiving your message. Many hospitals and physicians are able to receive only CDA or PDF files while many non-healthcare organizations such as an attorney or public entity, may only be able to receive PDFs. Please check with the receiving provider or organization before you send to them the first time.
