On the Add-On Management page you will administer licenses for device clients and other add-on applications that are "Direct-enabled" using Kno2 technology. These device clients or applications will require a license for use with Kno2.

Common devices, such as document scanners, multi-function devices (fax/print/scan/copy units), fax technology and others can now be transformed to send Kno2 messages (same as Direct messages) or a fax through Kno2 technology. In addition, applications may be licensed as well. All enabled devices and applications must be licensed through Kno2 to connect and send a Kno2 message or fax.

Product licenses are managed through your Kno2 organization. Device clients and applications must be registered and associated with the organization that will be responsible for managing and licensing the use of Kno2 with the device or application. The Kno2 administrator for the organization may activate specific devices and applications by attaching a valid license.

Licenses

Product licenses are delivered in the form of license keys. These license keys will need to be entered in to your Kno2 organization.

Adding a License

  1. Log in to Kno2 as the organization's Kno2 administrator.

  2. Select Add-Ons from the settings gear in the upper right-hand corner.

  3. Select the Licenses tab.

  4. Press the Enter Additional License button. If adding a single license key, enter or paste in the provided license key. Click the Add button. Select Save Changes to make them available to the organization

  5. If adding more than one license key, select the More than one key link. Key or paste in the provided license keys. Select Save Changes to make them available to the organization.

The valid licenses will now be available for assignment to compatible devices or applications.

Devices

The licensing of authorized devices is performed in Kno2. The Kno2 administrator must perform these actions from a standard web browser. After an authorization request for device registration has been submitted, the device can be seen by the managing organization's administrator in Kno2 in order to attach a license. A license can be detached from a device to disable the client and make the license available for assignment. If a device will no longer be used by your organization, it may be deleted from your list of devices, releasing its current license in the process.

License a Device

Complete the following steps to assign a license to a device.

  1. Log in to Kno2 as the administrator and select Add-Ons from the settings gear menu on the right.

  2. On the Devices tab will be a list of devices for your organization. Information displayed will include the status of any license associated with the device. A single license can only be attached to a single device. To license a device client, locate the device by serial number and a status of unlicensed, and select the linking button, Attach to License.

  3. You will next be prompted to select a license code from a list of available licenses compatible with the device client. Select the license.

  4. Select Save Changes. You are now ready to use Kno2!

If no licenses are available, make sure the organization has enough licenses for the number of active clients and that the licenses are valid for the desired application name/type.

Remove a License from a Device

If an incorrect device was selected for an existing license or the license needs to be reassigned to a substitute device, the license can be unlinked from a device.

  1. Log in to Kno2 as the administrator and select Add-Ons from the settings gear menu on the right.

  2. On the Devices tab, locate the device for which the license needs to be removed and select the unlinking button.

  3. The license will become unlinked or detached from the device and returned to an available status.

Remove a Device

If a device is being physically removed from your organization or will no longer be used at your organization, the device can be unlinked from your organization and removed from your list of devices.

  1. Log in to Kno2 as the administrator and select Add-Ons from the settings gear menu on the right.

  2. On the Devices tab, locate the device to remove and press the Delete button.

  3. Press Ok to remove the device from your organization.

  4. The device has now been unlinked from your organization and any associated license has been returned to an available status.

Applications

The Applications tab functions similarly to the Devices tab. Additional applications that may require a license for use with Kno2 will be managed here. The Kno2 administrator must perform these actions from a standard web browser. A request will be sent from the client application to register itself with the organization. The application can be seen by the organization's administrator in Kno2 in order to manage its license.

License an Application

Complete the following steps to assign a license to an application.

  1. Log in to Kno2 as the administrator and select Add-Ons from the settings gear menu on the right.

  2. On the Applications tab will be a list of applications for your organization. Information displayed will include the license status. A single license can only be attached to a single instance of an application. To associate a license to an instance of an application (Connector), locate the application by product name and  a status of unlicensed, and select the linking button, Attach to License.

  3. You will next be prompted to select a license key from a list of available licenses that are compatible with the named application. Select the license.

  4. Select Save Changes. You are now ready to use Kno2!

If no licenses are available, make sure the organization has enough licenses for the number of active clients and that the licenses are valid for the desired application name / type.

Remove a License from an Application

If an incorrect application was selected for an existing license or the license needs to be reassigned to a substitute application, the license can be unlinked from an application. Similar to devices, but from the Applications tab, locate the application for which the license needs to be removed and select the unlinking button. The license will become unlinked or detached from the application and returned to an available status.

Remove an Application

If an application will no longer be used at your organization, the application can be unlinked from your organization and removed from your list of applications. Similar to devices, but from the Applications tab, locate the application to remove and press the Delete button. Select OK to remove the application from your organization.
