When you send a fax through your Kno2 Connected™ app with a QR barcode, the system automatically recognizes and processes it. Here's what happens at each stage.
Inbound Message Arrives
When a tracked fax with a valid QR code reaches the system, every page is scanned for a barcode. If the barcode can clearly identify a single patient and conversation, the message processes automatically. If the system finds multiple documents in one transmission, unreadable barcodes, or pages without barcodes, it flags the message for manual review.
My Intake: Reviewing Your Message
Your inbound message now appears in My Intake with a visual indicator showing it contains barcode data.
You have two ways to view the message:
Click the yellow QR icon to go directly to Triage
Click the message row to open the standard message view
If you're already viewing the message, you can access Triage by clicking the blue Triage view text as shown here:
Triage: Organizing Your Attachment
In Triage, the system shows you what it found. You'll see pages grouped by patient and conversation. The system has already put pages back in their correct order if they arrived out of sequence.
Confirm the groupings and handle any pages the system couldn't read.
For pages with readable barcodes: Review that they're grouped correctly with the right patient. If the system got it right, you're done with those pages.
For pages without barcodes or with illegible barcodes: For each one, either:
Assign it to the correct document and patient, or
Delete it if it shouldn't be there
Submit and Download
Once you've confirmed all page groupings, select Submit.
If your attachment contained documents for more than one patient, the system creates a separate message for each patient in My Intake.
From there, you can download each message to your EMR. Because the barcode carries the patient information from when the fax was originally sent, most downloads require minimal or no additional data entry.
